Christian electronic music, also called CDM, Christian EDM, Christian dance music, or CDMA, is a relatively new genre of dance music that combines the best elements of traditional Christian worship music with modern influences and musical forms. Christian Electronic Music has gained significant popularity in recent years as Christian worship music has entered the mainstream. This style of music tends to be uplifting, eclectic, and fun while still remaining true to traditional music genres. Christian dance music tends to focus on simple, rhythmic beats and is generally not structured, and contains an emphasis on spirituality.

One of the most popular forms of Christian electronic music is dubstep. Dubstep was borne out of the popularity of British hip-hop artists such as Kanye West and Jay Z. Dubstep artists often incorporate heavy doses of Christian imagery and lyrics into their music and have built a large, devout following. In some circles, dubstep has even been considered a sub-genre of Christian hip-hop.

Another popular form of Christian electronic dance is Dance Me Now. This type of music is uplifting, with a strong drumbeat and a strong beat. Dance Me Now has an extensive following on the Internet and can be purchased via several websites that specialize in music for Christian churches. This type of Christian dance is often performed by musicians who are members of the church choir and is frequently accompanied by the minister or church members. Some well-known Dance Me Now artists are Ice, Neidermeyer, and Sunday morning.

One of the more experimental sub-genres of Christian music is Christian R&B. This particular genre leans toward soul and is popular among a younger crowd. The most popular music coming from this genre features artists such as Jada Pinkett Smith, Jazzy Jeff and the Pharrell Williams Band, Wale, Baby Phat, Luther Vandross, and numerous others. The genre has grown in popularity over the past few years. Many Christian artists are now making Christian R&B music and even bringing it into the mainstream.

One other way to describe Christian electronic music would be “big band.” It is essentially a collection of various Christian artists performing their versions of pop and rock songs using a drum kit, guitar, and various instruments that are commonly found in a big band setting. The term “big band” came about due to the large number of members who played the drums and the guitar. Christian artists that use this style of music include Chris Isaak, Merril Hoge, Faithless, and numerous others.

Another very popular genre of Christian dance is Christian rap. Rap is similar to Christian dance in that it usually uses a beat that is mostly Christian-based but sometimes incorporates reggae, classical, and other types of rhythms. Some of the most popular Christian rap artists include albums by Clear Channel, Jesus Taylor, and Krell. Some other Christian dance acts that have produced Christian rap songs include Cee-Lo, Reebok, and others.

The final and very popular type of Christian electronic music would have to be Christian hip hop. This is basically a compilation of Christian rap and Christian dance music mixed together. The producers of these Christian hip-hop songs usually stay away from using too many musical instruments. They also tend to choose tracks from the Christian musical genres such as Christian rap, CEDM, and Christian rock.

Christian electronic artists have been able to take these genres and produce a product that can be enjoyed by anyone, anywhere. Christian rap is produced because of the Christian music listening community. These artists are an extension of this larger group of Christian musicians and producers. The next time you want to listen to Christian rap or Christian CEDM, don’t forget about Christian electronic artists.
