Christian Electronic Music

Christian trance music, also called CEDM, Christian trance music, CDM, or Christian trance music is a sub-genre of Christian music and electronic dance music. It was created in the late 1980s by Christian and Pentecostal music experts who wanted to bring the “clarity” and “light” into their practices. Christian trance music tends to be slower and more relaxed than most Christian trance music, which is why it is sometimes referred to as “disco music.” This style of music falls into the “dream” or “nighttime music” category within Christian Music.

Some of the most popular artists who are believed to be the originators of this particular style of Christian trance music include Paula Young, Lee Ritenour, Aaron Freeman, David Cook, Ruben Studdard, Frank Huckens Chuck Girard, Dennis Reed, and Tim Rice. Hallelujah Praise, by Keith Whitfield and Kevin Troutman, is another very popular Christian trance music that has gained popularity over the years. Other well-known Christian trance music artists include  Chris Scott, Kyle Conley, Amy Lee, and Lashawn Martine. There have even been cases where Christian musicians have crossed over to Christian rap/rock and Christian pop/rock.

Christian trance music often consists of uplifting, rhythmic Christian themed songs that provide an overall feeling of comfort. Many times, the music is recorded with sounds of church organs or Christian love songs such as “Jesus Loves Me”. The lyrics in these tracks often are messages of hope, thanks, and life in general. These tracks can often times incorporate words such as: “I am beautiful”, “The Lord is my rock”, and “I have courage”.

Some popular artists of Christian trance music include Keys, pounding beats, reggae, soul, hip hop, and Latin. Christian trance music has gained popularity worldwide in recent years, due to the release of songs by artists such as Curticelli, Michael Rayburn, P-cloth, and many others. Christian music is also a sub-genre of Christian Hip Hop, as well as Christian Rock.

In addition to uplifting Christian themed songs, Christian trance music can have similar lyrics to other forms of Christian music. One example of this is the hit song by The Black Eyed Peas: “She’s Not All That”. Another artist who has created hit Christian songs that incorporate spiritual themes is Layla: “Wake Up.” Many of the songs on Christian albums have Christian messages as well as being very popular music. One such song, by The Jesus Camp, contains the lyrics “so help me in my hour of need”. Christian trance music often makes use of themes similar to Christian worship songs, but the music takes a much more positive approach.

Some Christian trance music is geared toward relaxation, which can be beneficial to Christian listeners, who find it difficult to remain in a conversation with others when their minds are elsewhere. Other Christian music artists prefer to use uplifting hymns, which inspire listeners to be more involved in their worship. The Christian music industry, however, has popularized a number of other genres, including Christian rap and rockabilly. The popularity of Christian rap and rockabilly has created a void in the Christian music industry, but newer Christian trance music has become popular in the past few years.

Because Christian trance music tends to have a message of hope, it has been especially effective as a therapy for those who are feeling depressed, especially those who feel like their life is not complete. Some songs have even reached the point of being used at suicide prevention events. In addition, Christian music can have motivational effects on those who feel like they are drowning in their own depression. When people are feeling desperate and need to feel that they are being helped, Christian songs can be a great way to make them feel better.

As you can see, there are many benefits to Christian dance music, both to the listener and the dancer. Although Christian trance music was not originally created as a form of Christian dance, many people today incorporate this music into their Christian dance classes, because it has such a strong psychological effect on the participants. It can make people feel inspired and positive, and as Christian music is so important to Christians, it is certainly understandable why it would have such an effect on people.
